Requesting data corrections and disputing receipts

If you think a receipt is wrong

Every receipt in your TrueStake account (see the glossary) is a record of a real on-chain event, reconciled to the wei against your validators' actual settlement data. If a number still looks wrong to you — a validator index, an amount, a recognition date — email support@truestake.io with the receipt's chain reference, if you have it, and the tax year it falls in. The more specific you can be, the faster we can look into it.

What happens next

We investigate against the same on-chain data the receipt was derived from — pulling the underlying transaction or block and comparing it to what's recorded. Most disputes turn out to be a misread of when income is recognized, not an error in the number itself, and we'll walk you through what the receipt is reflecting and why. If it's genuinely wrong, we fix it.

How corrections work

TrueStake's receipts are append-only facts — a correction never overwrites or deletes the original entry. Instead, a correcting entry is appended alongside it, and both stay visible. That's deliberate: an auditor, your CPA, or you a year later should be able to see not just the current number but the full sequence of what TrueStake recorded and when it was corrected. Nothing about your tax history gets quietly rewritten.

Reconciliation catches most of this automatically

TrueStake reconciles every receipt to the wei against on-chain settlement, with a default 100-wei tolerance. When a derived amount and the actual on-chain amount diverge beyond that tolerance, the reconciliation run raises a finding on its own — most data-quality issues surface this way before you'd ever need to report one.

What we're still building

TrueStake is in private beta, and a self-serve flow for flagging a receipt directly from your dashboard isn't live yet. For now, email is the fastest path.

Questions or a receipt to flag? Email support@truestake.io with the receipt reference and tax year.
